Scientists have found out that it is possible to sit for no more than 10.5 hours a day without harm to health
This is the conclusion reached by scientists from Massachusetts General Hospital. They conducted an experiment that lasted almost 8 years. Participants wore devices on their wrists that recorded their physical activity for a week. Over the following years, the scientists monitored the subjects’ health changes.
It turned out that if you sit longer, a person has an increased risk of cardiovascular disease: in total, almost 10% of the subjects had motor problems. Moreover, the time of ‘sitting’ included the position of sitting at work, in transport, at home in front of the TV, etc. According to Dr Charles Eaton, to reduce the risk, it is necessary to replace at least 30 minutes of ‘sitting’ time with moderate physical activity. So movement is life!
