Ambient Music for Working/Studying on Baroque Lute “Crossroads“ - Naochika Sogabe
Composition, baroque lute: Naochika Sogabe
Recently on my channel, more and more of you also like to hear tracks that contain more modulation (key changes).
In this piece I used much more modulation than my other ambient music. The music wanders from one key to the next - as if new landscapes were appearing in front of us.
So this track might be better suited as ambient for work or study. You can of course listen to it during your break, but it might seem a bit restless...
To create a natural - and not sterile - environment, I intentionally created noises here. E.g. - I reduce the pressure on the fingerboard and this creates the sound of the strings and fret gut rubbing against each other. By the way, the strings of the flamenco guitar are set so low that the strings touch the frets (and we love that sound!).
I would love to hear your feedback about this track!

This lute is not out of tune, although the frets are quite irregular, but quite purely tuned!
In the modern “equal temperament“ are the 3rds and 6ths quite detuned.
We don’t notice that because we are used to it...
In this “meantone temperament“ in the Age of Enlightenment (17th and 18th centuries) is tuned so that most of the intervals sound as pure as possible.
The pure intervals are based on the natural overtones and work positively for our mental health.
And also for our cats - they often approach the speaker...

- Oud & Lute - King of Instruments -
The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as the “king of instruments“ in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became “lute“. During the Renaissance the lute was also regarded as the “king of instruments“.
