Bauklötze (Hange’s Final Theme) - Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters [Piano] / Hiroyuki Sawano
This arrangement is dedicated to Hange, our beloved 14th Commander of the Survey Corps. (Spoiler alert in the video description and comment section below)
Without a doubt, Hange’s last fight in Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters is one of the most epic moments I have ever seen in Anime. I never expected the OST Bauklötze to appear again, since it was used only once during the female titan battle from the first season. I am happy it was used again and it’s simply the perfect soundtrack for Hange’s last stand against the titans. I am glad to be alive to witness this legendary moment in the anime.
① The Rumbling… it’s finally coming 0:01
The original song starts at 0:37 but I added a slow introduction to represent the great tragedy in the final arc of Attack on Titan. Eren could have prevented the Rumbling, he could have chosen differently. But unfortunately, he didn’t because he was forced to fight. I used the chorus melody of Bauklötze and slowed it down considerably to create a sorrowful atmosphere in the beginning.
② Hange’s last stand 0:37
Most of the arrangement is exactly the same as the original song but I added an extended chorus part from 4:07 to create an even greater climax in the music, representing Hange’s epic battle scene in the anime. Fast right-hand runs are also used here to raise the tension of the music, culminating in a massive B-minor chord in 4:32.
③ Shinzou wo Sasageyo 5:04
The original song ends after the second chorus in 4:56 but I wanted to create a special ending to honor Hange and all the fallen Survey Corps Soldiers. I added a choral version of “Shinzou wo Sasageyo” because this song represents the heart and soul of the Survey Corps the best. Hange has finally fulfilled her duty and she can rest now with all her comrades under a peaceful blue sky.
I also want to mention how the German lyrics are perfectly illustrating Hange’s sacrifice. It says “Wir werden kämpfen, bis dieser heiße Wind unsere Flügel nimmt” in 2:42 which translates to „We will fight until this hot wind takes our wings” – which is what exactly happened to Hange at the end. Truly poetic.
Alright, that would be everything about my piano arrangement of Bauklötze!
Thank you for listening to my arrangement and thank you for always sharing your thoughts in the comment section!
This is my 13th Attack on Titan piano arrangement already because the music is simply too good. I really can’t wait to watch the final episode of Attack on Titan which will be airing on the 4th November.
See you next time again!
