Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger - Toccata. Marina Belova - lute
Dear Friends,
With this video of the Toccata by Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger, I want to present you the upcoming recording of my first solo album.
To me this album is a long-awaited project, an opportunity to share with the public my vision on the lute music, which has inspired me for many years now.
The album I intend to record will be devoted to the lute music of the early seventeenth century.
It combines compositions that largely included the achievements of 16th century lutenists, together with pieces written for the type of instrument that was still Renaissance but already full of experiments with musical language. The main genres of lute music of the time are represented: free-form preludes, toccatas and fantasies, various dance pieces and tablatures of vocal compositions by the Italian composer Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger, Michelangelo Galilei, Pietro Paolo Melli and Alessandro Piccinini, together with the musical composition by the French Robert Ballard and Nicolas Vallet and the English John Dowland,
Recording an album always involves a great financial effort, so I will be deeply grateful for any financial assistance you can give me. If you want to help me with this recording, please email me at marinabelovalute@
Thanks for your attention,
Marina Belova
