Matraca Berg - We’ve Never Danced

This scene is from the 1987 film MADE IN HEAVEN starring Timothy Hutton and Kelly McGillis, now available on DVD from the Warner Archive. The song “We’ve Never Danced“ was written by Neil Young and performed here by the great Matraca Berg, one of the top female songwriters in Country Music history. Her voice is as great as her songwriting, but she has been unable to receive the exposure as a singer that she has as a songwriter. “We’ve Never Danced“ was also recorded for the film by Martha Davis of The Motels, and that version is played during the end credits. That recording is the only one listed in the film’s credits - where it is correctly listed twice. But there is no mention of Matraca Berg performing the song, so many people believe Martha Davis is the singer in the studio scene.
