It starts in the early morning at -38 degrees Celsius. My buddy and I are managing deep snow as we ride into an impressive double sun halo. After stopping near an outfitter’s cabin, we have a mug-up and then start to ride on the wild and remote Wind River. Cutting through the bush again we make it into a headwater of the wind and begin ice fishing for Lake Trout. We catch several but need to get going so we ride out of there, headed for the previous night’s campsite. After that, we go on a Wood Bison hunt and get one on day seven of an eight-day hunt!
