A Gleam From Aladdin (1926)

Scenes from the play Aladdin at the Palladium Theatre in London. Chorus girls’ heads appear above painted boards which represent a Chinese dragon. A dance ensues whereby the girls each dance with a painted board, making various patterns. Quite an impressive routine. The girls wear Chinese style trouser suits and hats. Ornately dressed women parade around the stage representing jewels apparently. Charles Austin plays Widow Twankey. We see him fall down a small flight of stairs and have an argument with someone - Aladdin perhaps. The Widow Twankey presents the Emperor with a box of jewels. 2 x safety prints exist.
