Officer Shoots Suspect Who Hung Onto a Vehicle While Attempting To Carjack it During Pursuit

* (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) * Lathrop, California — On Sunday, January 27, the Lathrop Police officers responded to a domestic violence call on Shadywood Avenue. The suspect, 40-year-old Juan Valdez, was wanted in connection to a domestic violence incident that occurred in Lathrop. Valdez fled officers, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. He entered southbound Interstate 5 and he then attempted to carjack a vehicle on southbound Interstate 5 after one of his tires came apart. He then attempted to carjack a vehicle on Interstate 5. The video shows Valdez holding on to the victim’s vehicle’s window as the victim was driving away. The victim then stopped their vehicle on the shoulder of the interstate and attempted to enter the vehicle through the passenger door. This is when an officer fired two shots at Valdez.
