Defiance is a city in the county seat of Defiance County, Ohio. Defiance is named for Fort Defiance, constructed in 1794 by General Mad Anthony Wayne, who was sent to subdue the Native Americans and end British influence in the area. Fort Defiance is a location that has several historic markers detailing some of the unique fortress. Auglaize Village was started in June 1966. Every year there are special events to demonstrate a wide variety of pioneer skills. Defiance has so much rich history to see.
