Tram Diamond D201 vintage tube AM/SSB CB radio

This is the Tram D-201 classic vintage CB radio for AM and SSB, made in the USA around 1976. This is a late model D201 with the improved noise blanker circuit (the same circuit that was later also used for the D201A). The radio you see in this video covers all 40 channels for both receive and transmit, by means of the built-in VFO. This works so well that you probably would never use the channelized crystal mode! The D201 has an excellent receiver and a superb modulation, for both AM and SSB. Output power is 16 watt in SSB and 6 watt carrier from a powerful Sylvania 6L6 tube. The radio is a hybrid; it uses tubes in the PA stage, the receiver and the audio amplifier/modulator, but transistors in the transmitter exciter and the crystal synthesizer. it is built very well, old-fashioned made-in-the-USA quality!
