Thallium Chemistry: Oxidation of Thallium(I) using Peroxide

In this video Thallium(I) Nitrate is oxidized using Hydrogen peroxide and alkaline conditions. In the first step a TlNO3 solution is mixed with some KOH. Thallium is often compared to either Sodium or Silver. And it has many similarities with silver. The chlorides for example are insoluble (we will show this in another video). So are Chromates, Iodides etc. Silver and Hydroxide will quickly form Silver Hydroxide which decomposes to Silver Oxide. Thallium Hydroxide is stable and soluble and least
