I needed more space on my desk for stuff and things, and I wanted my monitor to sit higher. It needed to have a nice neat, organized look, without exposed cables cluttering up my workspace. I came up with a very simple design for what is essentially a wide monitor stand, with shelf space below for my audio interface and other peripherals, and a gap on the bottom for cables to run under when needed.
I used only scrap and pallet wood that I had laying around, some glue, nails, paint, and some black shelf liner that I bought at the dollar store. Total cost of material was less than $10 (with lots of spray paint left over). I watch a lot of woodworking videos on Youtube, like Jimmy Diresta, Frank Makes, Woodworking for Mere Mortals, and others. I wanted to try some of the techniques I’ve seen, so this was my first ever attempt at dado’s. I don’t have a dado blade stack or a router so I did the best I could with a 10“ table saw blade.
