Common Whipping Great Covering Knot How to Tie

ABok 3442 Common plain or ordinary whipping is tied by laying a loop along the rope and then making a series of turns over it. The working end is finally stuck through the loop and then hauled back out of sight. Both ends are then trimmed short. A whipping should be, in width about equal to the diameter of the rope on which it is put. The Common Whipping also makes an excellent covering knot.
