Spiros Mazis - Sirens for Tuba and Electronics, Op. 141 (2020) [Score-Video]
Spiros Mazis - Sirens for Tuba and Electronics, Op. 141 (2020)
Georgios Theodoros Rarakos, tuba
Program Note: The scale I use here is a 24-notes scale. The semitone (100 cents) is divided into two smaller intervals of which the first has a distance of 68,825 cents and the second of 31,175 cents.
The micro-intervals must be performed with the specific fingerings that I have discovered and use (not half valves or positions). Coming soon in a published book called “Micro-intervals for Brass“ for composers and performers.
I was inspired by the idea of Sirens. According to the Greek Neoplatonist philosopher Proclus, Plato said there were three kinds of Sirens: the celestial, the generative, and the purificatory/cathartic.
