The arrival of 3D Editor 3.0, to which I dedicated a video earlier, had set a new trend in mapmaking - the so-called blockmixing. On the other hand, the effect of overlapping tiles has always been achievable in the game, and I knew it. About 4 years ago, I could hardly imagine what kind of breakthrough it would be to have this technology integrated into the editor’s interface. And now it’s in 3D. Is it actually that impressive?
Intrigued, I started making a map by the “new recipe“ before the new editor version came out. Not sure why, but I had decided to refuse the usage of “floating“ tiles. The result is a rather doable map, but hardly a revolutionary one - not quite what I was expecting.
