Layla (MTV Unplugged) - Eric Clapton - By Jamie Harrison (Lesson in Description)

Lesson Now Available at The lesson includes videos on how to play this song, understanding this style of guitar playing, chords, lyrics, note for note instruction, detailed info on my guitar and how to get the tone Clapton gets, my overall thoughts on tone, and tonnes more. My dad first played this song to me when I was a child and it has become one of my favorite acoustic guitar performances ever. Obviously, we all know the original song, as it’s one of the most well-known guitar riffs/songs of all time without question, but this chilled out acoustic version from MTV Unplugged has it’s own vibe and soul. There are some other, ’higher viewed’ acoustic versions of the song, but in my opinion, they don’t come close to this version, and this is Eric Clapton in his prime. Although it is the ’acoustic version’ of the original song, it’s a very different piece of music, which is what I adore about songwriting. You can represent a song in so many different ways, and if the foundation of song is good, the ’walls’ that are built around it can be built up in so many different shapes and forms. This is a little more of a ’beginner’ song than some of the others you’re used to from me, but there’s still a lot to be learned from it, and is a really fun tune to play. Hope you enjoy it :)
