USAID’s Trade Facilitation Program Improves the Trade and Investment Environment in Vietnam: On April 12th, USAID and the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) celebrated the success of USAID’s Trade Facilitation Program. Initiated in 2018, the $21.7 million program increased the business community’s voice in policy-making, simplified customs procedures, and created action plans to ease port congestion. Highlights of this successful partnership between USAID and GDVC have been the development of 43 trade-related laws and regulations, training more than 3,000 government officials and private sector representatives, generating 9,000 national business satisfaction survey responses, and putting Vietnam on track to be in full compliance with the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement ahead of schedule.
