DarkDriveClinic is legendary producer John Fryer [NIN, DM, 4AD] with vocalist Rebecca Coseboom [Stripmall Architecture]. John has worked on some of the most influential records of the past 40 years and as he moved from project to project, he began writing for himself.
John had always imagined finding a female vocalist for these songs, but not just anyone. Having worked with CocteauTwin Elizabeth Fraser, Sarah McLachlan, Kristin Hersh, Jarboe, Diamanda Galas, and Allison Moyet (to name but a few), he had extremely high standards. Her voice had to be ethereal and delicate but it also had to be emotive, powerful, and heartbreaking. Rebecca Coseboom fit the bill just perfectly.
The resulting album, “Noise In My Head” is a grand synthesis of all that comes before in his career. Fryer is demonstrating his ability to craft dark, hooky post-industrial rock songs using a musical palette that ranges from discordant to dreamy. He creates crisp, crunchy, and lurid ballads of disillusionment and pain! E
