“Schadenfreude“ adaptation of Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger“ by The Marsh Family about Dominic Raab
WARNING: UK News Parody so don’t watch if you are sensitive to songs being ’political’ or don’t like those ones - in which case, catch you for another song soon!
This song takes as its inspiration the controversial resignation two days ago of Dominic Raab, the UK Deputy Prime Minister, after the publication of a five-month independent investigation into his bullying of colleagues by a lawyer (on the back of over a dozen complains about his behaviour). In two sets of complaints, he was found to have acted in an intimidating manner that is not in keeping with the ministerial code that is supposed to govern behaviour.
Since the whole case was about fighting, and Raab is a proud boxer, we picked THE all-time classic power/combat tune for parody, which Tess was adamant we should use because she absolutely loves it and insisted on singing the chorus: Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger“ which was the theme song for the 1982 Rocky III - written by Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik. When we were rehearsing it on Saturday, someone noticed that the clucky guitar intro is incredibly similar to the start of Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious“, so we figured we’d throw in a mini-mashup and pick nine of the most embarrassing resignations, sackings or sensational terminations since 2020 (under what has been the biggest political turnover of failing UK ministers since, like, the fifteenth-century War of the Roses).
If you need it, you can find all the details about this subject explained here: And some backstory on the Deputy Prime minister and their antics in recent years here:

Lyrics:
[Bootilicious Ministerial Sackings/Resignation Shortlist since 2020]
Hancock, can you handle this? Johnson, can you handle this?
Williamson, can you handle this? I don’t think you can handle this!
Kwarteng, can you handle this? Truss, can you handle this?
Zahawi, can you handle this? I don’t think you can handle this!
Pincher, can you handle this? Paterson, can you handle this?
Dowden, can you handle this? I don’t think you can handle this!
[Main Song]
Dominic Raab, back on the street
He resigned, no more chances
Unrepentant, as he beats a retreat
Just a man with no skill to survive
So many times it happens too fast
You change some high profile Tory
Don’t lose your list of the ministers past
You just might reappoint them sometime
Maybe try someone wiser
Who won’t bully or fight
Who’ll live up to the challenge of their profile
Could the last grim survivor
Please just turn off the light
And not bitch about how they were right!
Schadenfreude.
Face to face, Raab loved the heat
Hanging tough, being snarly
Made a mess of the Afghan retreat
Pushed a bill to curtail human rights
Now he’s sighing and whining
But complainants were right
Standing up to his domineering style
And he thinks he’s a martyr
But the barrister [Adam Tolley KC in inquiry report] writes of
“Abuse or misuse” of his power!
Schadenfreude.
Brexit brain - bit of a flop
Had the guts, very ballsy
Then discovered how the trade would all stop
At the Channel (where lorries arrive)
Maybe try someone wiser
Who can still be forthright
And live up to the challenge of their profile
Not insult Civil Servants
And then not be contrite
And stop botching up all of our lives!
Schadenfreude.
Go learn about Dover.
Or visit Gibraltar.
Try not to boil over.
