Bab’ Aziz movie trailer | Nacer Khemir | 15 years Festival Cinéma Arabe

Cinéma Arabe in retrospective: Bab’Aziz | Nacer Khemir | Tunesia, France | 2005 | drama | 98 min. | Arabic, Persian spoken - English subtitles Screening: fri 10-05 | 18:45 Rialto Amsterdam A blind sufi takes his lively granddaughter to a sufi ceremony that takes place only once every 30 years. In order to get to this very special event, they first have to cross a vast desert. Along the journey, the grandfather recounts magical tales, and they encounter many mystical inhabitants of the desert. The structure of a frame story that encloses other tales – full of mysticism and age-old sufi wisdom – makes Bab’Aziz like an Arabian Dream, a tale from 1001 Nights, but most of all an impressive portrait of the desert and its legends.
