Rise in violence in the West Bank since October 7

On 16 August 2024, a Palestinian man was killed and several others were injured in a brutal assault by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank. Dozens of settlers, some masked, carried weapons and Molotov cocktails, setting vehicles on fire and damaging property. Israel reported that one Israeli national was arrested in Jit, and Israeli political leaders, including Benjamin Netanyahu, Yoav Gallant, and Bezalel Smotrich, have condemned the attack.
