📃 Оригинальное описание:
This segment is not quite obscure however worth uploading in good quality.
By the time this footage was filmed, it was already six months past the Tiger’s combat debut on the Eastern Front and a month later Tiger 131 would be captured by British forces in North Africa.
The 54 ton vehicle is shown knocking down a sturdy oak as well as other trees, then firing its KwK 36 main gun. It’s noteworthy to what extent the tank’s mass appears unaffected by the recoil forces of what was a potent gun for its day.
An interesting scene downrange appears at 1:20, the targets seem to be British Churchill tanks that were captured during the Dieppe Raid in August 1942, still wearing their distinctive wading gear installed for the disastrous mission. These tanks were a mixture of Mk I, II and III Churchills and in practice none of them was sufficiently armored to resist gunfire from the Tiger even at ranges beyond 2 kilometers.
The tank shown burning at 1:31 is a Soviet KV-1 that does not appear in the view downrange nor does it appear to have damage from gunfire, it’s more than likely that a flammable liquid was poured over the armor and set alight for the benefit of the camera.
The next scene shows a Tiger knocking down yet another tree then driving through a house. This was a dramatic display but not recommended in practice as a collapsing building could easily disable the vehicle and there was no guarantee that if a basement was present the floor would be able to support the tank’s weight.
