Rattletines are lamellaphones (instruments of the family that includes mbira and kalimba) to which various sorts of rattling effects have been added, sometimes subtle and refined, sometimes raunchy. A samples library of rattletine instruments has been released by Soundiron as part of its Hopkin Instrumentarium series, and this video reviews and explains the physical instruments on which that library is based.
