African Lion 2022 Military Exercise

The Royal Armed Forces and the American Armed Forces trained together as the joint Moroccan-American exercise “African Lion 2022“ came to a close on Thursday in Cape Draa, Tan Tan. Together, more than 7,500 trainees from 28 countries and NATO train with the goal of improving readiness for American and ally forces. Using a full range of mission capabilities, AL22 is a combined, all-domain, multi-component, and international exercise with the aim of enhancing participant interoperability and preparing the theatre for strategic access. General Stephen Townsend, Commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), Lieutenant General Belkhir El Farouk, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the South Zone, and others participated in this exercise, which included F16 aircraft manoeuvres as well as the bombing of targets by Apache helicopters, armoured vehicles, and Abrams tanks.
