Haast’s eagles were massive birds of prey, in fact, the largest of their kind, and dominated the skies of New Zealand for a substantial period of time. The arrival of people to this land, however, changed things, and with the loss of their prey, the large and unique moa, the faded into extinction, and only their bones and a handful of passed down accounts now exist. What we do have however paints a fabulous picture of their anatomy, behaviour and potential interactions with people. I hope you enjoy.
