Chrysalis Presents Ten Years After In Collaboration With Steve Keene

Chrysalis Records are proud to present a short video fusing the work of artist Steve Keene and seminal blues-rock band Ten Years After. The video, sees Steve - a fan of the band - painting Ten Years After album covers from the period 1967-72, and aims to shine a light on the enduring quality of the band’s catalogue, and their ‘I’d Love To Change The World’ track in particular. Keene produces hundreds of paintings on a daily basis, and has already sold more than 300,000 of them, working towards his target of selling one million paintings at ten dollars a pop. He has also created works for bands including Apples in Stereo, the Dave Matthews Band and - most famously - the cover artwork for Pavement’s Wowee Zowee. “I want buying my paintings to be like buying a CD: it’s cheap, it’s art, and it changes your life,” says Keene. “Musicians create something for the moment, something with no boundaries, and that kind of expansiveness is what I want to come across in my work.” Chrysalis Records hopes the new video will bring attention back to Ten Years After, with the band’s classic albums but also sees the collaboration with Keene as part of a longer lineage of partnerships between the art and music worlds, stretching back to the Beatles’ work with artists like Klaus Voormann (on Revolver) and Peter Blake (Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band) in the mid-1960s, which changed the perception of what an album sleeve could be.
