Sony EV-S700 Multi PCM Audio Demonstration (Pioneer VE-D70)

Here’s a slapped-together video of my Pioneer VE-D70, which is identical to the more popular Sony EV-S700 Video 8/PCM audio decks. The build quality and methods used in this deck are unseen today. Multiple layers of circuit boards on dedicated metal hinges graduated in size and placement are used to simplify servicing. The tape mechanism in this machine is incredibly complex- it’s the 1980’s alfa romeo of audio components.
