Pakistani man who ‘was determined to kill Jewish people’ in New York, arrested in Canada
A Pakistani national residing in Canada was arrested over terrorism charges, informed US Department of Justice. The accused, identified as Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS. The 20-year-old arrested accused allegedly planned a terrorist attack in New York City around October 7, 2024. The intent behind the attack was the ‘slaughter’ of as many Jewish people as possible, said Attorney General Merrick B Garland. As alleged in complaint, Khan, attempted to travel from Canada to New York City, where he intended to carry out a mass shooting. Khan also provided details about how he would cross the border from Canada into the United States to conduct the attacks. The accused also allegedly emphasised that “Oct 7, Oct 11 are the best days for targeting the Jews”. Notably, October 07 is the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel and October 11 is Yom Kippur, a Jewish religious holiday. The IDF on Oct 7, 2024 declared a state of readiness for war following an infiltration of Hamas terrorists into Israel.
