Folktrio AR-GOD`s members` interpretations of traditional songs bring musical renewal and enrichment to the ancient heritage of Udmurts, Bessermans and Estonians, connecting them to the realm of worldmusic. Maria Korepanova – performer of ancient folk songs (krezh) from northern Udmurtia and the Bessermans. Her voice resonates with centuries-long traditions as well as a personal approach. In her works Maria combines ancient Finno-Ugric roots with professional mastery as a performer. Nikolai Anisimov performs Udmurt folk songs as well as his own compositions. He blends his cultural activity and his scholarly approach, thus facilitating a better understanding of traditional material while enriching and broadening its world-picture.
