Going gluten-free can lead to withdrawal symptoms similar to drug withdrawal due to the opioid effects of gluten exorphins. These symptoms can include low-grade fever, shakes, chills, irritability, agitation, headaches, and visual disturbances. Gluten can mask its own toxicity by mimicking morphine, which can make people feel fine when consuming gluten but still develop diseases.
Some people may feel worse for the first few weeks after eliminating gluten, but this can be alleviated by following the steps I discuss in the video. Overall, the withdrawal symptoms and carb reduction side effects will pass with time.
