“Glad to be out of here“: Yellowknife residents flee as wildfire creeps closer

The deadline to leave Yellowknife over a nearby wildfire has passed for the city’s 20,000-plus residents. Now, people scramble to make their way to the nearest evacuation shelter. Though people are struggling to secure a seat out of the territory, officials say they will continue to schedule flights out of the capital for as long as it takes.
