Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has taken issue with comments written by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron. Cameron, a former UK prime minister, urged Congress to approve an aid package for Ukraine to avoid repeating mistakes made in the 20th century, citing the appeasement of Hitler in the 1930s. Greene has campaigned against further financial support for Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion. When questioned by James Matthews of Sky News, Greene initially appeared to misunderstand Cameron’s argument, believing that Cameron had “tried to compare us to Hitler”, rather than the western powers who appeased the dictator.
