In the heart of war-torn Lebanon, brave activists are risking their lives to save innocent animals trapped in the rubble of buildings hit by Israeli airstrikes. Members of Animals Lebanon, like Maggie Sharawi, have rescued 190 animals in just three weeks. They venture into dangerous zones, searching through debris to save cats, dogs, and other pets left behind.
While the humanitarian crisis continues, these rescuers believe that caring for animals is a reflection of caring for humans. “People are calling us for help, and we are answering,“ Sharawi says.
Despite the escalating violence, these rescuers continue their mission, working 24 hours a day to ensure the safety of Lebanon’s animals.
