The Fleischer harpsichord was made in Hamburg by Carl Conrad Fleischer in the year 1716. Along with the famous 1674 painting showing Dieterich Buxtehude and Johann Adam Reincken, it is held in the collection of the Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte in the city where it was originally built. The instrument was restored in 2019 by Ulrich Weymar, whereby the original stringing was reconstructed according to indications given on the original jacks. It has 3 registers (2 x 8’, 1 x 4’) and a lute stop. The registrations in this recording include 2 x 8’, 1 x 4’ (opening), the front 8’ (from 1:09), and the two 8’ stops together (from 2:18). The recording took place in the music room of the museum on 11 October, 2022. Many thanks to the Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte and especially Dr. Claudia Horbas and Prof. Bettina Probst for supporting this project.
