Hey friends - earlier this year I was asked to commission a short animation for War Thunder by Gaijin Entertainment. I’ve never done any sponsorships before, but the folks at Gaijin are genuine fans of my animations and have been watching the stuff I’ve created for years. Since this project involved many scenes, I thought it was a good opportunity storyboard ahead of time and collaborate with my team about how my characters would interact with one another in a simulated war games scenario. Also, speaking with Gaijin it became apparent that Nigel needed to be brought back in full surrealist glory.
This was a bigger project for us, it took about three months to make, but I feel it was worth creating something both my soup enthusiasts and the passionate fans of War Thunder could enjoy.
The thing that separates War Thunder apart from others, is its absolutely massive library of vehicles, featuring over 2000 tanks, plans, helicopters and ships. Vehicles are detailed down to individual components, each with their strengths and weaknesses - and to an incredible degree of historical l accuracy. You will be fighting against other online players, on maps that are faithful recreations of past battles and I really feel it was made not just for gamers, but anyone who has an affection for history and engineering.
One of the most interesting aspects of this game is the X-Ray display. Damage in War Thunder is precise, and simulates exactly where projectiles hits, based on their unique properties, accounts for the armour of the the vehicle it’s targeting, and how it affects the operators inside. If you aim precisely, you can take out an engine, treads, or the cannon all based on your strategy.
No two matches are alike, and it’s free to play! If you sign up with the special link in the description, you’ll also receive Mischief decals. It’s available on PC, Xbox Series X & S, PlayStation 5 or the previous console generations.
