A call comes in after a gas clerk is violently attacked by one of his customers, after making a dramatic arrest the suspect begins to spit at the officers and attempts to kick the window of the door down. Witnesses give their account of the incident whilst the cops try to piece together what happened. Real-life officers are followed by a camera crew, cinéma-vérité style, in a gritty up-close look at police work and the consequences of crime. It spawned a number of police-reality imitators.
