A Modeltown Music Production
A man longs for his home and the loved ones he left behind. The man falls into a reverie triggered by the appearance of a single leaf from a chinar tree. The chinar tree beckons him home. But the reverie transforms into a nightmare as the man grapples with guilt and regret.
Chinari Dream is an orchestral waltz featuring the sarangi and bansuri. The song speaks to that tension between the restlessness for adventure and the yearning for a place to call home. The song is something of a nomad itself, traveling the world from conception to completion. It began in New York, as a kernel of a melody. It developed in Texas into the skinny framework of a full song. And then it was recorded all over the world, from Kolkata to Bombay to Lahore to Budapest to Dallas and to Chennai.
