The first year of battles does not benefit the allies, because the enemy at that time had the strongest army and the latest technologies of that time. But the leadership gave a clear task to carry out air strikes on military targets in Berlin, which seemed simply an impossible task, since the Nazis had a powerful air defense system capable of defeating even the most experienced pilots. The Soviet state understood that victory in this battle required not only desperate steps, but also a considerable risk of losing much-needed equipment and people. The USSR needed someone the bravest and most courageous to fly more than 2,000 kilometers without refueling, and at a fairly low altitude, only 7 km. It is worth noting that this task could not be done without luck, but everyone understood the importance of inflicting damage on the enemy’s capital. The squadron of the 1st aviation regiment of Colonel Preobrazhensky takes on this task.
