Boatbuilder Hemming Forsell (1905-1984) was born in Våtskär (Pernå, Finland) in 1905 as the oldest of three brothers. After studying at Pernå Fishery School in 1924-25, Hemming was employed at Borgå Båtvarf. Hemming participated in the building of, among other things, the President’s Motorboat Kultaranta II and several boats for the Navy. After marrying in 1933, Hemming moved to Våtskär where he started fishing and boating. During the years 1937-48, Hemming Forsell worked as a teacher in of boat building at Pernå Fiskarskola. From the beginning of the 1950s, Hemming was a full-time boatbuilder, and he built a large number of boats for both professional fishermen and an increasing number of summer guests.
