The Potters Angelfish (Centropyge potteri) is one of the most beautiful small reef fish available to hobbyists. With its brilliant orange and blue set against steel grey, it’s not had to see why. This fish isn’t for beginners - but it’s also not that hard if you start with healthy animals and have a decently sized tank (maybe 55 gallons or more?). Some people are even able to breed these fish in their saltwater tanks, and mine spawn regularly as the lights are dimming for the night.
I see spawning behavior most evenings, though I’ve yet to see actual eggs being released into the water. Maybe one day! It would be fun to collect them and attempt to raise the larvae - the eggs float so it would just be a matter of turning off the pumps at the right time in order to skim them off the surface to try to raise the fry. It was very hard to catch this on camera, it happens at dusk and so you have to deal with the very low light and the camera shy fish.
