The 毛路提 ’’Maoluti’’ text (Mawlid in Arabic) is one of the most famous panegyric of the Prophet Muhammad amongst Muslims in China. The whole text contains 135 verses and are known to be recited in 8 different styles or tones. The Maoluti is said to have been brought from Mecca by the Sufi Master Abu l-Futuh Ma Laichi (1681-1766), the founder of the Khufiyya Order, a sub-branch of the Naqshbandiyya.
