Michala Petri, Mahan Esfahani (on harpischord), and Hille Perl (on viola da gamba) in concert in the Queen’s Hall at The Black Diamond - Royal Danish Library in Copenhagen.
J.S. Bach: Cello Suite No 5 arranged for viola da gamba, BWV 1008
Michala Petri has been one of the world’s leading recorder players for over 40 years. She is an innovator on the instrument, and with her inborn curiosity she has developed new playing techniques which have offered contemporary composers great opportunities for writing for the recorder. Her long career includes just over 150 original works and more than 50 album releases. Now Petri returns to her point of departure – Baroque music.
In 2019, she teamed up with Iranian harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani and German viola da gamba player Hille Perl and recorded Bach’s flute sonatas, resulting in a fascinating album, “J.S. Bach: Flute Sonatas BWVV 1030-1035 (Arr. for Recorder & Basso continuo)“.
Recorded live November 7 2020.
The concert series was supported by William Demant Fonden and Knud Højgaards Fond.
Video production: Signal Media and the Royal Danish Library.
