Gudmundsson joined FC Groningen in the summer of 2019. FC Groningen paid € to Gabriels former club Halmstads BK. He played as a leftwinger. In his first season Gudmundsson played 11 games, because of injury’s he missed most of the season. In the season 2020-2021 coach Danny Buijs turned Gabriel into a left-wing back. Which he is doing incredibly good. So good that big european clubs ar after Gudmundsson. Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Napoli, Manchester City, AC Milan, Atalanta and Juventus are following the Swedish player. Gabriel has a contract at Groningen until the summer of 2023, with an option for another year. In 30 games, Gudmundsson scored 2 goals, and gave 5 assists.
