Original Winchester-Lee Navy made by Winchester in 1898 and chambered in 6mm USN. This rifle was part of the second contract for the US Navy.
This rifle was the primary service rifle for the US Navy and Marines from 1895 into the early 1900s. It had one of the shortest service lives of any small arm in US military history, but it still managed to see service in the Spanish-American War, the Philippine-American War, and the Boxer Rebellion (including with the Marines besieged during the famous “55 Days at Peking“). It was eventually partly phased out by the Krag so simplify logistics with the Army, and then fully phased out by the Springfield 1903.
