One of a series of 25 heavy rail guns produced for the Wehrmacht by Krupp of Essen. Developed as the K5 series from 1934 onwards, the first test firing took place in 1936.
Statistically, the gun had an overall length of 30 metres, increased to 32 metres in the firing position, and a weight of 218 tons.
The barrel had a length of 21.5 metres (70’8“), a calibre of 283 mm (11.1“) and an elevation of 50 degrees.
The shell weighed 255 kg, and the range was in excess of 40 miles.
