Assessing Napoleon Bonaparte as a General and Military Strategist

Many people are unaware that the Napoleonic wars lasted 12 years and ended in 1815. in history. this was a very short period and though Napoleon won some early victories in the final analysis from 1812 onwards, it was a downward spiral to defeat, Napoleon was a good general, but certainly not a great one, and he committed many mistakes which a great general would never commit, and that in the final analysis we cannot rate him among the top military captains of world history.
