What’s new in Kilohearts v2?

We’ve been hard at work preparing not just a few tweaks and fixes, but a full-scale overhaul of the entire Kilohearts Ecosystem. And it’s free to all users. Run the Kilohearts installer and upgrade as soon as you like. But what is it? Well that’s a terrific question. At Kilohearts we’ve made it our goal to provide highly useable sound design, processing, and synthesis systems for musicians, producers, DJs, composers, sound designers in film, theatre, and games, and anyone else with audio in their life. Our intuitive modular “Snapin“ system allows you to use our individual effects not only as standalone plugins in your DAW of choice, but as Snapins within our three hosts – Snap Heap for serial or parallel audio processing, Multipass for multiband, split-frequency effects, and Phase Plant, our ever-more-powerful modular soft-synth. Think of a sound. You can make it! Version 2 raises the game across the board, bringing Phase Plant’s near-limitless modulation system to Snap Heap and Multipass for the first time, and adding a bunch of new functions and improvements. NEW MODULATORS Curve – a complex multi-segment envelope generator with looping, for intense, customisable modulation journeys. LFO Table – wavetables for modulation. Use this for multi-morphing madness. Remap – Track an input signal to a different output. Great for quantising, playing with probability, and much more. Sample and Hold – Use triggers to capture single values from a changing signal. Audio Follower – Tracks the amplitude of an incoming audio signal and generates a modulation signal based on it, with lots of control. Pitch tracker – analyses incoming audio for note values, which can be used to modulate parameters elsewhere. NEW FUNCTIONALITY Modulator Triggers – there’s now a sophisticated and controllable triggering system, which allows one modulator to set off another for more control and options, as well as truly modular-style generative chain reactions. MPE support – a full range of MIDI Polyphonic Expression modulators allows for the use of expressive controllers, opening up multi-dimensional sound design and manipulation. Slower LFO rates – Our LFOs now go all the way down to 0 Hz. There’s nothing slower than zero. So now your modulations can last months, or millenia. External automation for any parameter – It’s now possible to directly expose any single parameter in one of our hosts to external automation in the DAW, no matter what epic mega-effect you’ve built. WORKFLOW IMPROVEMENTS Modulation connections – you can now see what’s modulating what more quickly, by hovering over the connections. Updated modulation target menu – More control than ever over what’s being modulated, by how much, and across what curve. Effects groups and Modulator groups – keep things neat, tidy, and easy to work with even when you’re getting mega-creative, with nameable groups for modulators and effects. New factory content – not just hundreds of new presets showcasing the new features, but additions to the wavetable and LFO libraries too. ...and of course a ton of little bug fixes and optimisations along the way. We’re excited to finally release this huge suite of upgrades and improvements, and we’re sure you’ll find it gives a significant boost to your creative capabilities using Kilohearts products.
