How hard was it to invade Taiwan / Formosa in the 17th Century? We examine the three successful conquests of the island from 1624-1683: the initial colonization by the Dutch East India Company (1624-62), the takeover by Ming loyalist Zheng Chenggong or Koxinga (1661-62), and the final conquest by Qing Admiral Shi Lang (1682-1683).
