Carmilla (1989)

After the ravishing Carmilla (Meg Tilly) arrives at a secluded Southern mansion, she soon has Marie (Ione Skye), the young plantation owner’s daughter, under her mysterious spell. Then, when a series of grisly murders reveals the beautiful stranger as a blood-thirsty vampire, Marie’s father and a local official enter into a desperate battle against the nightmarish power of the undead. Produced for the short-lived TV series “Nightmare Classics,“ this loose adaptation of Sheridan Le Fanu’s novel of the same name costars Roy Dotrice and Roddy McDowall (the latter in his last vampire film, hot on the heels of “Fright Night Part 2“). Issued on VHS and laserdisc, the film has been unavailable for decades. No infringement intended.
