Arthur Askey (1937)

No titles. Comedian Arthur Askey. Pathe Studio, London. Arthur Askey walks onto set, asking pianist “Where are they?“ (the audience). The pianist points to camera and says “There!“. Askey tells a joke about a man he saw on a train who was making lots of silly faces and mouthing words to himself (Askey demonstrates, of course). The man was bored and was telling jokes to himself. Askey says “That may not be funny, but it’s clean!“. He puts on some white gloves and talks of his dubious musical ancestors and relations. He puts on a forage hat and sings a song called ’The Moth’ - it goes around nibbling on a lady’s nightie. Quite silly - probably a follow-up to ’The Bee Song’ (and not really as good!).
